About Section A

The Collier County Board of County Commissioners and their team have begun a project to design improvements to approximately two miles of existing ditch located along the west side of Goodlette-Frank Road from Golden Gate Parkway heading north to just south of Pine Ridge Road – excluding the Goodlette-Frank Ditch Pilot Project area from Pompei Lane to Granada Boulevard. The project will enhance the conveyance capacity of stormwater flow through the Gordon River Basin to the receiving waters of Naples Bay, which will reduce flooding in adjacent residential and commercial developments. Design elements will also include updates to drainage structures, signing and pavement markings, and possible utility relocation. An access and maintenance buffer area will be designated.

Project Goals and Objectives For Section A

The improvements provided by the Goodlette-Frank Road Ditch Improvements Project will enhance the capacity of stormwater flow through the Gordon River Basin to the receiving waters of Naples Bay. The project will be designed to provide an adequate flood protection level of service for this area against a twenty-five (25) year, three (3) day storm event. This enhanced capacity will reduce flooding in residential and commercial developments in the basin. The east side of the ditch was improved several years ago with a fabric-formed reinforcement system to help control erosion. The west side of the ditch requires similar erosion improvements. The contractor will work to ensure the improvements will be aesthetically attractive while ensuring the design allows for continuous maintenance and inspection.
